All application materials must be submitted through ERAS (no exceptions). ALL of the following items are required in ERAS before your application can be reviewed for interview selection:

  • Completed ERAS application form
  • MSPE or Dean’s letter from your medical school
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation
    • It is recommended that one letter be from a Family Medicine physician who has knowledge of your clinical acumen.
    • All letters of recommendation must be from individuals who have direct knowledge of your clinical ability and performance. These include attending physicians or any physician who has been in a position to supervise and/or evaluate your clinical performance.
    • Letters of recommendation from an observership or research positions are not considered to be desirable.
  • Medical school transcripts
  • USMLE transcripts with completion of at least Step 1 and/or COMLEX level 1 for osteopathic medical students

Selection Factors

To be selected for an interview, we require the following:
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a first-time pass on any component of the USMLE or COMLEX exams.
  • No more than one failed attempt on USMLE Step 1 or COMLEX Level 1.
  • In order to be considered for ranking, applicants must have a passing score on USMLE Step 2CK or COMLEX Level 2.
  • We do not have minimum passing score cutoffs for USMLE and/or COMLEX.
  • For International Medical Graduates, we require US direct hands-on clinical experience.  This includes clinical rotations in US hospitals and/or clinics.  Observerships, scribe work, medical assistant work, and/or research experience do not count towards this requirement.

Interviews

Until further notice, we will be conducting all interviews virtually using Zoom. Interviews are by invitation only and will consist of a night before virtual meet and greet with our residents. This will give interviewees a chance to learn more about our residency program and the Fresno area. Interviews will be with the program director and a member of faculty.

Visas

We accept ECFMG sponsored J-1 VISAS. We do not sponsor H1A/H1B VISA applicants.
