Bequest Language

Bequests can be made in a number of ways. You may want to leave a specific amount of money or a percentage of your estate or a particular assets or the rest, residue and remainder of your estate to Saint Agnes Medical Center.

Please understand that you may also designate your bequest to support a specific facility, program or service line at Saint Agnes; you may decide to leave your gift "undesignated" which means the Foundation's Trustees may determine the best place to use your gift when it is received.
Whatever your decision, please know that we are honored to be considered for and provided with this very special gift.
Examples for bequests
Please consider the following language if wanting to make a bequest of a specific amount of money:
"I give, devise and bequeath to Saint Agnes Medical Center, Fresno, California, the sum of $_______ (or a specific asset) to be used for _______."
You'll need to specify the program, unit, facility or specific use for which you intend your gift. Or you may leave it "unrestricted," in which case the Foundation Trustees will determine how best to use your gift when it is received.
Please consider the following language if wanting to make a bequest of a percentage of your estate:
"I give, devise and bequeath to Saint Agnes Medical Center, Fresno, California, ______% of my estate to be used for _______."
You'll need to specify the program, unit, facility or specific use for which you intend your gift. Or you may leave it "unrestricted," in which case the Foundation Trustees will determine how to best use your gift when it is received.
Please consider the following language if wanting to make a bequest of the remainder of your estate:
"I give, devise and bequeath all the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, both real and personal property of whatever kind and wherever situated, which I may own or have the right to dispose of at the time of my death, to Saint Agnes Medical Center, Fresno, California, to be used for ______."
You'll need to specify the program, unit, facility, or specific use for which you intend your gift. Or you may leave it "unrestricted," in which case the Foundation Trustees will determine how best to use your gift when it is received.
Please consider the following language if wanting to make a contingency bequest:
"I give, devise and bequeath to [Named Beneficiary] the sum of $_____ (or _____% of the estate), if he/she survives me, otherwise to Saint Agnes Medical Center, Fresno, California, to be used for _____."
You'll need to specify the program, unity, facility, or specific use for which you intend your gift. Or you may lave it "unrestricted," in which case the Foundation Trustees will determine how best to use yout gift when it is received.
All or part of your estate may be left in trust to provide income to your beneficiary/ies. Upon the death of the survivor/s, or after a pre-determined number of year, the principal goes to Saint Agnes Medical Center, Fresno, California. Please consult with your legal or tax advisor to assure the trust is property constructed so it may qualify for any charitable deduction available.
Designating your bequest
Just as in a gift of cash, your bequest can be unrestricted, meaning that you will leave it up to the Foundation's Board of Trustees to determine how best to use your gift when it is received. It is also possible to designate that your bequest should benefit a specific use at the Foundation, such as equipment, naming a room or area, scholarship for College of Nursing students or faculty support and physical facility upgrades.
It is also possible to specify that the funds be used for program support. These gift may be restricted to a specific department or program.
