Fresno, CA – Following a successful onsite review, Saint Agnes Medical Center is pleased to announce its recertification as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission. Saint Agnes is one of more than 925 certified primary stroke centers in 48 states.
Nearly 800,000 Americans suffer from a new or recurrent stroke each year. This recent Joint Commission recertification means that Saint Agnes follows evidence-based standards and guidelines that are shown to significantly improve stroke patient outcomes.
Developed in collaboration with the American Stroke Association and launched in 2003, The Joint Commission’s Primary Stroke Center Certification program is based on recommendation from the Brain Attack Coalition. Certification is available only to stroke programs in Joint Commission-accredited acute care hospitals.
The Joint Commission accredits and certifies more than 20,000 healthcare organizations and programs nationwide.
