Saint Agnes News

Saint Agnes Implements Nonsmoking Policy
Start Date

On January 1, 2011, Saint Agnes Medical Center took an important step toward improving the health and well-being of our community by becoming a tobacco-free organization. This means that smoking or tobacco use of any kind is strictly prohibited inside and outside our facility.

Patients who have smoking material or tobacco products in their possession upon admission will be asked to send them home with a loved one. If this is not feasible, our staff will gladly safeguard these items until discharge.

Every effort will be made to ensure that our patients who have nicotine dependencies are offered the necessary medical and emotional support to remain comfortable during their visit. Patients who are interested in getting help to stay tobacco free can be referred to 450-QUIT (7848). A call to this Saint Agnes hotline activates a visit by one of our tobacco treatment specialists who provide counseling, education, and follow-up after discharge. Visitors may also call this phone number for assistance.

Quitting is hard. Register for the Freedom From Smoking program at Saint Agnes and learn how to overcome your tobacco addiction. For a complete list of tobacco cessation resources within the community, call 1-800-ST-AGNES.
