HAND THERAPY

The skilled therapists from Saint Agnes' Physical, Sports and Occupational Therapy Center have more than 250 years of collective experience and a proven track record in alleviating pain, restoring function and improving mobility through specialized rehabilitative programs. A physician’s referral is required for insurance reimbursement.

Hand Therapy
The hand is a complex structure, both functionally and anatomically. Thus, hand therapy has evolved into its own clinical specialty. Treatment includes functional, protective, and restorative splinting; joint and soft tissue mobilization; and strengthening and functional activities, along with home exercise instruction. The program promotes the maximum use of the hand, regardless of its residual deficits.

Hand therapy can benefit patients with:

  • arthritis
  • burns
  • carpal tunnel releases
  • crush injuries
  • cumulative trauma disorders (tendonitis and carpal tunnel syndrome)
  • Dupytren's release
  • joint replacements/post fractures
  • tendon repairs and transfers
  • upper extremity nerve injuries
  • upper extremity reflex sympathetic dystrophy
  • wound care
